In October 2024, our club was awarded a $77,000.00 grant from the State of Nevada Off Highway Association.  These funds are a direct funding from OHV registration and granted back for projects such as our OHV Staging Area, located on Cottonwood Street, directly across from Beatty High School.  We were granted use of 4 acres of land thru Beatty General Improvement District, Nye County Commissioners and BLM.  Ground breaking will commence in 2025.  Stay tuned.

On February 10, 2025, we broke ground on our OHV Staging Project.  Walsh Reclamation did the dirty work for us.  The weekend before, the weather was cool, no wind, perfect.  However, the day we started digging, it was super windy, cold, threatening rain (it did rain on the third day).  We have some “before” pictures of all the debris that had to be removed.  And a fun video of the old announcers stand making its final showing.

We received our first load of railroad ties and cattle guards – or in our case burro guards – on March 6, 2025.  Mother Nature was again was showing her furry that day too.  We had a work party on March 28 & 29, 2025 and the weather was beautiful and we had quite alot of people help that day.  But it was not without some hiccups – 3 drills burned up, many bits were broken, several processes were tried and failed, but by the end of the weekend, we have a burro guard installed and the north fencing installed.
Stay tuned for more progress reports.

BigHorn Outback Explorers would like to give a big SHOUT Out to Republic Services, Dakota Dawson and crew Christopher Minton, Jorge Perez, Genaro Femat, Shelbi Robinson, Cobey Ferguson, Oscar Lopez for their help on our OHV staging project.  They drilled, placed and pounded 177 railroad ties.  Looks so good.  And they had some fun catching a snake (non-poisonous) and relocating him.  Thank you.  Almost done with Phase I
